Gamer.tv (www.gamer.tv) today announced its attendance at MIPCOM-Junior, Noga Hilton, Cannes, October 2-3 2004, with a screening of GAMIACS, the first weekly television programme focusing on computer and video games, aimed at 8-14 year old children.
With its unique positioning and universal appeal, GAMIACS has been designed from the studio floor up as the perfect solution to the growing phenomenon of children ignoring television and playing computer and video games.
With one in two children playing every day, computer and video gaming is now firmly established as a strong mainstream alternative to television, music and film and Gamer.tv, producer of GAMIACS, is perfectly placed to bring the increasingly valuable intellectual properties, groundbreaking gameplay and revolutionary graphics back - full circle - to the world of television. Home, sweet home.
"Stunning graphics, sophisticated characters and gripping narratives in today's computer games have captured the imagination of kids worldwide," commented Alex Fraser, TV Sales Manager, Gamer.tv. "We've drawn on our experience at Gamer.tv and produced the first show targeted at the key 8-14 year old age group that speaks to them about their passion and that will help broadcasters brings those eyes back to the TV, rather than the computer screen. GAMIACS is already generating considerable excitement in territories worldwide so we're expecting a busy MIPCOM-Junior this year."
Splicing an exciting blend of animation, live-action and clips, GAMIACS fits snugly in animation programming strands, as well as studio-based children's programming with an entertaining format that allows for easy localisation across the globe.
Gamer.tv, part of TWI, combines television, the Internet and mobile - the world's three strongest communication media - to deliver compelling and entertaining TV programmes focused on video games. Gamer.tv has a total of six video game-related programmes in production and its programmes are broadcast to over 300 million households worldwide.
