Berlin, Germany, March 18, 2024 – The nominees for the German Computer Game Awards 2024 have been announced. The main jury met on March 14 and 15 to select the winners of the German games industry's most important awards from a total of 27 nominated games and prototypes. The awards are presented in 15 categories and honor the best games and creative minds in the games industry in Germany with 800,000 euros in prize money.
The best international contributions will be awarded in the category "Best International Game". This category recognizes the best game outside of Germany – regardless of its target group, genre, or gaming platform while the success of a game among players can also be considered as proof of its quality. The "Best International Game" category is not endowed and the nominees for 2024 are Alan Wake 2, Baldur’s Gate 3 and Super Mario Bros. Wonder.
The jury of the German Computer Game Awards 2024 consists of representatives from the games industry, science, culture, media, and politics, chaired by Mareike Ottrand, Professor for Interactive Illustration and Games at HAW Hamburg. A list of all jury members can be found here.
"We were able to judge a colorful bouquet of great games and - as always - it was not easy to make a decision in any category," says Mareike Ottrand. "I'm looking forward to the award ceremony in Munich and seeing the sparkling eyes of the winners!"
The award ceremony will take place on April 18 in Munich. The German Computer Game Awards 2024 will also be broadcasted live on www.deutscher-computerspielpreis.de, Twitch and YouTube.
