Gizmondo :
London, 1st September 2004. Gizmondo Europe Ltd, subsidiary of Jacksonville, Florida-based, Tiger Telematics Inc (TGTL: former symbol TIGR), today previews its hotly anticipated mobile entertainment device, Gizmondo, to the UK. Due to launch at the end of this year, Gizmondo is set to be at the top of many people's wish list this Christmas, with the company trying to keep up with current retailer demands and pre-orders.
The Gizmondo gaming experience is like nothing else on the market. The device has in-built GPS and GPRS technology that not only gives Gizmondo players a whole new gaming experience, but also allows developers to incorporate a never before used GPS dimension into mobile gaming. The GPS system brings gaming to life and allows users to experience the true meaning of mobile gaming. As well as new gaming functionality, the GPS system can also utilise current location based services, allowing users to locate the nearest Starbucks or ATM, for example. The device will also help you find your friends at festivals or concerts if they too have a Gizmondo.
High quality multi-level games can be easily installed through an MMC/SD card and, unlike other mobile gaming devices, Gizmondo puts you in total control, with an eight way D-Pad, left and right triggers and four face buttons. Gizmondo also offers consumers wireless multi-player gaming using BluetoothTM and GPRS.
Currently in development are some of the most exciting games seen on a handheld console. Jenson Button has been signed up by Gizmondo to develop the fastest and most realistic racing game to date. Entitled 'Chicane', the game is a high-speed, high-impact racing experience that will squeeze every last drop out of Gizmondo's outstanding performance capabilities. Also on the horizon is Gizmondo's gang warfare game 'Colors' that will be the first ever game to incorporate GPS functionality. This brings a whole new element into mobile gaming as your location will form an important element of your game and will enable you to interact with other gamers.
In addition, Gizmondo sports the following in-built entertainment features and functions, including:
A movie player that enables you to watch feature-length films using a 512 Mb SD card
An MP3 player so you can listen to all your favourite tracks, anywhere
Messaging facilities allowing you to text and send pictures, music and film clips
A high-resolution digital camera so that you never miss a moment
A 2.8" TFT/LCD colour screen that gives you the ultimate view
Gizmondo boasts an ARM9 400Mhz processor and 120MB memory with a 64-bit graphics accelerator. It is permanently linked to a GPRS connection, allowing wide-area network gaming. Gizmondo is also wired for GSM tri-band networks, so it can be used in five different continents.
The Gizmondo website (www.Gizmondo.com) is the place to find all the latest information on the launch of the product, allowing you to search for your nearest stockists, obtain details of Gizmondo events and hear all the news on the games development.
Gizmondo is set to launch later this year at an approximate retail price of £230.
