Eidos | For immediate release 26th April 2005
The world's deadliest assassin, Agent 47, is to make his mobile phone debut following a deal signed between Eidos and mobile games developer Morpheme Wireless.
Morpheme, who recently received a BAFTA for Best Mobile Game 2004/2005, is developing a version of Hitman: Blood MoneyTM for Java-enabled handsets. The game will be split into two episodes; the first episode will be released simultaneously with the PlayStation 2, Xbox and PC versions of Hitman: Blood Money.
The HitmanTM series is one of the entertainment software industry's most successful original IPs. Players take on the role of Agent 47 in a world of crime, sin and greed, where making the perfect 'hit' is the main objective. The mobile version of Hitman: Blood Money is based on the storyline of the console and PC versions, with Agent 47 finding himself in the midst of a battle between two rival contract agencies.
Simon Protheroe, Eidos' director of new media and online technologies, says:
"The multi-million selling Hitman series is one of Eidos' most successful brands and it's great news that we have enlisted the services of a developer with the pedigree of Morpheme's. We have been very impressed by Morpheme's new technology, its understanding of what makes Hitman so popular and the way this experience has been translated to the mobile phone platform."
Matt Spall, ceo at Morpheme says:
"Everyone at Morpheme is extremely excited to have the opportunity to bring Agent 47 to mobile. We'll be utilising our brand new ISE isometric engine in the development of Hitman for mobile. This allows us to freely develop game scenarios and challenges with a depth of gameplay previously unseen on mobile."
