June 7, 2024 - Hooded Horse is gearing up for a massive push during the June 2024 Steam Next Fest event. Five demos from its portfolio of world-leading tactical and strategic games are ready to strut their stuff, from city-builders to tactical roguelites and more. Check out the line-up below!

Beyond These Stars (Balancing Monkey Games)

The next city-building game from Balancing Monkey Games is ready for its gameplay debut. Rebuild society on the back of a sentient space whale named Kewa and travel the stars, building outposts, meeting aliens, and uncovering the mysteries of the universe.

Manage complex supply chains, limited space, and finite resources, all while figuring out how to expand and develop a civilization without harming Kewa, as the choices players make will impact their relationship with this majestic beast.

Blacksmith Master (Unititled Studios)

The spiritual successor to cozy tavern management game Tavern Master, Untitled Studios' smithing sequel challenges players to run the best Blacksmith in town. Manage the entire production line, from the extraction of valuable metals, to ore refinement, to the all-important smithing by crafting a wide variety of items. From cups and saucers to swords and shields and even fine jewelry, players will need to decide what to specialize in and plan accordingly.

The player’s journey begins by fulfilling important orders for the Kingdom as part of a brand new strategy map, eventually opening up a storefront to sell only the finest wares to eager shoppers from across the land. Everything will need designing from scratch, from the shop space to the production areas, as well as managing staff and their training so that players can nurture the next generation of Blacksmith Masters!

Fata Deum (42 Bits Entertainment)

The highly anticipated next evolution of God Games is heading to Next Fest with a brand new demo experience that shows off all of the improvements made in recent years. Inspired by the God Games of old, Fata Deum lets players mold settlements and townsfolk in their image, and watch as a living world grows under their whims. There will be other powerful Gods to contend with as well, with players competing with each other or the AI for the people’s devotion.

Heart of the Machine (Arcen Games)

Hooded Horse is very excited to present the first-ever gameplay preview of sci-fi sandbox strategy game Heart of the Machine. Not much has been shared about this game since it was first revealed at the end of 2022, and since then, it’s gone through several iterations and changes. The final vision is something entirely different, described by Arcen Games founder and creator Chris McElligott Park as “a love letter to science fiction”.

Heart of the Machine is a turn-based 4X RPG game where players take the role of the world’s first sentient AI. Spread its consciousness across an army of androids, establish hidden bases, and seek a purpose while trying to survive in a dystopian society on the brink of collapse. Engage in tactical battles, build up supply chains between bases, and unleash hordes of machine cults (and even a giant mech or two) upon a city filled with warring factions.

Super Fantasy Kingdom (Feryaz Beer)

The highly addictive fantasy roguelike city-builder is back and heading to Next Fest with a fresh demo that takes everything learned from the initial prototype phase. Experience the true potential of this wonderful strategy game where abstract city management meets bullet hell-style auto-battles. 

Rebuild your kingdom and explore a vibrant fantasy world: Defeat hordes of monsters with a unique team of defenders as you harvest, build, mine, cook, brew, and grow. But should your defenses fail, be prepared to watch it all burn!
