A wave of new content is set to roll in as part of the May update for the hit naval warfare MMO on console and mobile. This is what players can look forward to:

  • Exciting new Roman Empire event

  • Japanese light cruisers exit Early Access

  • New campaign with a Pan-Asian destroyer at the end

  • Brand-new Bureau Project for a Legendary Italian cruiser

April 29, 2024 – Wargaming, developer and publisher of leading naval battle MMO World of Warships, is sailing toward new horizons with the May update for Legends. Waiting at the end of the new 4-week, 80-milestone “Eastern Horizons” campaign is a Pan-Asian Tier VIII destroyer. This update also sees the arrival of an epic Roman Empire-themed event, complete with ships, camouflages, and a new Commander guise. Plus, Japanese light cruisers are now in the Tech Tree and available to all players, and there's a new free Bureau Project to research.

The return of the Roman Empire, plus new cruiser Venezia in the Bureau.

With Legends bringing 20th century naval warfare to the age of antiquity, players can enjoy an epic journey to the time of the Roman Empire with a new in-game event. There's plenty of thematic content to unlock and missions to complete, making this special event as mighty as the once-great Empire itself. Through the missions, players can acquire a special event-themed currency—Denarii—which can be exchanged for thematic goods, camouflages, a gladiatrix Commander guise, and Italian battleship Centurion. Players can also access new Italian Tier VI cruiser Francesco Ferruccio via random bundles.

Italian Legendary Tier heavy cruiser Venezia is also dropping anchor in the Research Bureau. This combat-ready warship sports fifteen 8-inch guns, high speed, and strong armor, making her an agile addition to any Italian fleet.

Tier VIII Lüshun waits in the Eastern Horizons campaign.

Kicking off this Legendary May update is the brand-new Eastern Horizons campaign. Lasting 4 weeks and 80 milestones, the campaign offers Pan-Asian Tier VIII destroyer Lüshun as the final reward for players with an active Admiralty Backing. With an impressive main battery reload speed and rotating turrets, she can dish out a significant volume of firepower. Lüshun is also armed with deepwater torpedoes that have the unique advantage of improved stealth, making them significantly more difficult to detect than standard torpedoes. To assist players in acquiring this destroyer, Eastern Horizons has the catch-up mechanic enabled.

Japanese light cruisers go full steam with full access.

The new line of Japanese Tier IV–VIII light cruisers has left Early Access and is now fully available for players to research in the Tech Tree. Leading this lineup is powerhouse Tier VIII Takahashi, and it's possible to obtain a special permanent camouflage for her by completing a dedicated mission. With rapid-firing guns and turning torpedoes, these dynamic light cruisers are the perfect candidates to explore experimental battle strategies.

Closing out May’s Legendary update are two new seasons of Ranked Battles, plus two Brawl seasons that each feature a unique ruleset. Ranked Seasons 54 and 55 will see fast-paced combat in 5v5 matches, with one season restricted to Tier VI ships and the other to Tier VII. Brawl Season 17 requires Tier VII battleships, and all ships in battle will have their main batteries deactivated, while Season 18 will see players field Tier VI cruisers with boosted stats.

This update also brings a few bug fixes and upgrades across the game. You can find the full patch notes https://wowslegends.com/blogs/entry/2500-may-update-gold-and-crimson/
