Big Games Machine :

January 2024 - The 2024 Games Journalist Survey is still open for submissions, and Big Games Machine encourages all games journalists to get involved and help make their opinions heard across the wider games industry. The online survey is the only one of its kind and aims to ask journalists the most relevant questions about contemporary games journalism to dispel the myths and misconceptions around their profession.

The 2022 edition had input from hundreds of journalists across the media landscape, including the likes of IGN, PC Gamer, and Kotaku, sharing insights on content, pitches, blockchain/web3 gaming, and more.

This year's survey covers a number of topics and challenges currently facing games industry journalists, including but not limited to the impact of AI, layoffs, job security, time constraints, and the blueprints to successful pitching.

The 2024 survey can be completed in around 8 minutes, and Big Games Machine will donate to gaming charity SpecialEffect for each of the first 250 survey completions as a thanks to those who have taken part. Five entrants will also be randomly picked to win a $25 Amazon gift card each.

All participants will receive a preview of the survey before it is published in the near future.

Please feel free to share with colleagues, and thanks for taking part! Use the link below to take the 2024 survey ahead of its closure on Monday, January 29th.
