TOKYO - Feb. 1st, 2024 - The Touhou Empires, the real-time strategy Touhou fan game from developer Neetpia and publisher Phoenixx based in the community-driven Touhou universe beloved by millions of fans, battles for control of the universe in a new limited-time demo available on PC via Steam today until February 13th, 2024.
Turmoil turns into full-fledged warfare as Gensokyo becomes a battleground in the latest trailer with music by renowned composer Yuka Kitamura (Composer - ELDEN RING, SEKIRO: Shadows Die Twice). In the all-new demo, train for conflict in Alice’s Art of War, where blooming warlords can hone their skills. Practice both micro and macro battle tactics, resource management, strategic positioning, and try out Battle Mode against up to 5 CPU-controlled factions in free-for-all skirmishes.
Rule with an iron first as one of many beloved factions, and compete against iconic territories to conquer the entire realm. Raise fortresses, enlist massive armies, and call upon the help of more than 40 high-powered Touhou heroines to turn the tide of war.
Develop a battle plan factoring in the advantages of each army and character. Build an impenetrable defense with the Hakurei Shrine’s iron-clad structures, or rush to preemptively strike enemies thanks to the Scarlet Devil Manor’s early-game attack strength. Gather resources like wood to construct a compound, then harvest booze to bribe soldiers into battle.
Overwhelm the opposition with the speed and power of horseback combatants, but take heed of well-positioned lancers, able to cull their advances with a wall of sharp steel. Eliminate foot soldiers with Archers from afar, but stay vigilant for ambushes.. Unleash area-of-effect spells to boost allies’ health and attack power as well as lower enemy defenses.
Recruit mighty Touhou warriors including Reimu Hakurei and Marisa Kirisame, then cast powerful spell cards to wipe out armies in an instant. Unveil the story of Gensokyo at war in a story mode filled with skirmishes and boss battles across 20 stages, or take the battle online with up to six players.
“The Touhou Empires is a brand-new take on the increasingly-expansive Touhou universe,” says syousa, representative of Neetpia. “Previously this demo was only available at PAX West or during Steam Strategy Fest, so we’re excited to share the demo worldwide and watch Touhou fans create their own custom battle strategies. We can’t wait to reveal more as we approach the 1.0 launch: stay tuned!”
The Touhou Empires arrives on PC via Steam this year with language support in English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
