PORTLAND, DECEMBER 19, 2023 - In the midst of preparing a new and innovative holiday fruit cake recipe*, Panic is happy to share the latest group of games arriving later today to Catalog - their curated on-device and web-based games store for Playdate - as well as recap the games that came to Catalog earlier in December. 

Highlights of this month include the gorgeous rogue adventure Under The Castle, the wild horizontal shoot’em up Kuroobi, and Spanish learning tool The Tiny Tester

*not really, but maybe!

Panic has also released their Staff Picks of 2023 for Catalog! This is a curated list of Panic's favorite games for the year, and also includes a few words from the team for each title. Such as the following:

 

  • Root Bear - "Root Bear became an overnight sensation on TikTok, and it's easy to see why: it's the perfect game to share with friends. Approachable, immediately understandable, and extremely funny."

  • YOYOZO - "YOYOZO is a perfect execution of a simple idea. As you master the game, you'll discover new techniques and climb the global leaderboards."

  • Under The Castle - "Complete dungeons and gather more items to take with you as the quests get more difficult. This game was beautifully made in every way!"

This will be the final Playdate Catalog drop of 2023, Catalog releases will continue in the new year starting on January 16.

  • ������ Kuroobi  - A horizontal shoot'em up for Playdate where you take on spaceships with your bare hands. 

  • ������ Dash Arena - A score chasing arcade game where you zip through slime monsters. 

  • ������Loona Landa - Play as a small alien in a UFO collecting bunnies while avoiding hazards. Use the accelerometer, crank, or just good old buttons to get the job done! 

  • ������Water Flow - An old school puzzle game where you connect pipes so water can flow to the target field. 

  • ������‍⚖️ Trickle Greenweed, Mermaid at Law  A courtroom visual novel where you play as a mermaid attorney who tries to save Christmas!

  • ������ Under the Tree  - A first-person dungeon crawler inspired by the original Wizardry first released on the Apple II, simplified to suit the screen and controls of Playdate. 

  • ������️ The Tiny Tester - A Spanish verb conjugation tool for Playdate! 

  • ������ Mega Dystopia Micro Architect - A micro dystopian city builder. 

  • ������ Aus Bruch - Get Out of That Prison  - A brick breaker game where you will help prisoners escape from prison. 

  • ������ A Ghost in the Gallery -  A Ghost in the Gallery dives into the Pulpy world of ART-O-Ween in an interactive comic using the ingenious Panels framework by Cadin Batrack!
