Global game publisher CFK (headed by Chang-sig Koo) is proud to announce today (7/17) that it will release 21c.Ducks’ new action RPG, Chrono Sword, to the globe.
 
Using the global publishing know-how they have accumulated throughout their many years of operating, CFK plans to help bring Chrono Sword to the global stage. With CFK’s help, Chrono Sword is planned to be released to the globe on all platforms, including the PC, Nintendo Switch™, PlayStation, and Xbox. In addition, the game is currently shooting to launch on Steam Early Access inside of 2024.
 
Chrono Sword is a pixel art Souls-like action RPG developed by Korean dev team 21c.Ducks that tells the story of the dark gothic fantasy world of Adelnor, where players must travel between the past and future to unlock its secrets. Revealed first to the public in 2019, this Souls-like action RPG garnered a great deal of interest in Korea and abroad for its unique pixel graphics and gameplay. Selected as the first game in the collaboration campaign by North American crowdfunding site Kickstarter and the global game testing platform Game Round.Inc in 2020, it raised over seventy thousand dollars to successfully reach its funding goal.
 
Developer 21c.Ducks has submitted Chrono Sword to a number of game shows in Korea and abroad, where it was praised and awarded by a number of these for its gameplay. The developer then used this as a chance to refine the gameplay and level design within the game.
 
Chrono Sword isn’t another 3D rendered game like many of the Souls-like action RPGs released these days, instead rendered in an isometric pixel art style for this unique Souls-like. Since 21c.Ducks announced the game, they’ve shown a heart and soul commitment to elevating the game’s storyline and the features that make it a Souls-like action RPG.
 
Chrono Sword spans a vast land splayed out in three dimensions, all rendered in its pixel art style. Once inside, players will embark on a ‘journey through time,’ able to venture between the past, present, and future, switching between maps seamlessly with no loading screens.
 
In addition, the game features a variety of systems that incorporate the heavy enemy and player hits common to the Souls-like genre, but with the action made faster and more intense. Details of the enhancements made to Chrono Sword will be revealed at a later date.
 
The teams behind Chrono Sword have released a teaser trailer alongside the announcement of the game’s global release. The teaser gives a small taste of the game’s stages and a brief introduction of the important characters.

On that night, as the city is enveloped in flames, you awaken to find your memories forgotten.
 
After defeating the insane residents of this place, you slip through a Time Gate to arrive at the world in the future. Within that ruined version of this world, you meet a dying woman, and her duties fall to you.
 
You then meet the woman’s companions and come to learn that you and they are ‘Time Travelers.’ You have the special power to travel between the past and present. Thus, it is possible for you to find the cause behind the fall of this world and stop it from happening.
                               
Now, you must travel between the past and present, defeat the enemies that stand in your way, explore this world, and uncover the secrets of that fateful night.
 
All to prevent the annihilation of this world...


CFK and 21c.Ducks are planning to do their best to release Chrono Sword to Steam Early Access within the year. Prior to its Early Access release, it is slated to be featured at a number of events where fans will be able to get a peek at the game.
 
21c.Ducks began their development path in 2015 with mobile game Timing Hero, moving onto release Super Pixel Racers on PC in 2018, distinguishing themselves for their abilities in game development and raising awareness about their company. Then once they unveiled Chrono Sword in 2019, the game was nominated for the Grand Prix/Judge Selection/Excellence in Art awards at the Busan Indie Connect Festival that very year. Then in 2022, it won a special award for excellence at the Burning Beaver festival.
