Mythic Protocol :

March 12, 2024 – Singapore, Singapore. The Riftstorm development team, Mythic Protocol, posts promising numbers from their opening weekend pre-alpha playtest. The relatively small production team behind Riftstorm had to increase server capacity three times within the opening 24 hours as day-one numbers rocketed past internal expectations.

As of time of writing, the team had celebrated over 13,000 sign-ups to the playtest, an average of 320 concurrent players on Steam, and a highly competitive leaderboard. The team is looking forward to welcoming new players into the fray as the playtest continues until March 15, 1900 PST!

This event, the second public playtest for Riftstorm, is also showcasing a new “Flashpoint Event” that the developers say will irrevocably change the world. With the success of the opening weekend, Chief Creative Igor Tanzil, took a moment to expand on this concept.

Operation Tombstone is the culmination of a very short three-mission narrative arc that we used to introduce the new Shade mythic into the game. The events in-game follow the events of a precursor Casefile in the Repository that will be followed by a comic-book visualization in the coming days. As players complete Operation Tombstone for the first time they will have left their mark on our world. Their success – or failure will set our world on a path down two divergent paths that will affect how we utilize the Shades in-game for the foreseeable future.”

With the universal consequences at stake, the Riftstorm team is pleased to share that thus far, only 24% of players have successfully completed Operation Tombstone on their first try.

As to the potential impact into the game world, the success or failure of the mission can result in the following teaser table – which if the trend persists, all indications point to the activation of the Failure state below.
