Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland  Demo Takes Baby Steps Towards Release Next Month

Playable demo for ‘90s retro classics can now be downloaded as part of Steam Next Fest and will have NES version available along with PlayStation, Xbox, and PC this March

Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland, a retro-inspired puzzle-platforming adventure based on the beloved ‘90s Nickelodeon franchise, developed independently through a collaboration between The Media Indie Exchange Games (The MIX Games), WALLRIDE and Limited Run Games, debuts its first public demo during Steam Next Fest. The classic cartoon adventure will launch across PCs via Steam, PlayStation 4|5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in March 2024. The MIX Games will also offer a special NES edition through its partnership with Limited Run, available for pre-order in the coming weeks.

Join the world’s craftiest babies – Tommy, Chuckie, and the adorable twins Phil and Lil – in a brand-new NES-inspired adventure full of mischief, diapers, and imagination. Get ready for backyard jungle adventures, digging into sandbox deserts, and exploring spooky attic ruins by yourself or with a friend. A baby’s gotta do what a baby’s gotta do!
 

Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland brings a baby-fresh take on retro gameplay. By mixing elements from the NES era with modern design sensibilities, today’s parents can introduce kids to a nostalgic franchise through an adorable co-op adventure for up to two players where babies must stick together to win. Toggle between 8-bit art for an authentic retro gameplay experience and HD art featuring hand-drawn animations for a trip straight back to the iconic Nickelodeon TV show.
 

Explore six stand-alone levels across the Rugrats’ make-believe interpretations of the world, each filled with secrets, challenges, and bosses. Hop across ice blocks at the Ice Cream Factory (the fridge), venture into the Night Oasis (the sandbox), and brave the Haunted House (the attic). Swap babies to employ their distinct abilities: help Chuckie overcome his fears by jumping up high, or call up Phil to dig holes faster.
 

Encounter some of the franchise’s most familiar faces, including Cynthia, the most famous doll in the Rugrats world; Spike, the loyal family dog and the best of boys; and Mr. Boppo, the punching bag clown that almost had Tommy turning into a no-good “taker-backer.”
 

The playable demo is for the duration of Steam Next Fest. Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland launches on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4|5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in March 2024. It will feature English localization.
