COLOGNE, Germany – Aug. 25, 2023 – Saga ceremoniously concluded its inaugural Multiverse Summit alongside gamescom, making several major announcements and featuring more than 34 speakers from top gaming, entertainment, tech and Web3 companies including Unity, Samsung, ESL FACEIT Group, The Sandbox and more. The company unveiled Pegasus, the latest iteration of its namesake protocol, which enables developers to automatically launch fully decentralized dedicated chains, or chainlets, on Saga. The event was closed out with a surprise reveal of the groundbreaking Saga Ethlet, a new Ethereum scaling solution that features all the benefits of sidechains in terms of speed while inheriting Ethereum security and being uniquely easy to deploy with one-click, creating a best-in-class solution.

“We held our Multiverse Summit during gamescom to reinforce that Saga is the leader for game development for creators looking to new development platforms, specifically Web3,” said Rebecca Liao, co-founder and CEO of Saga. “It was certainly a labor of love by our team and exceeded our expectations, and we’re especially thankful for all of the partners and attendees who collaborated with us to show the world an entirely new vision for Web3 gaming and entertainment.”

Now in its beta phase before mainnet launch, Pegasus features groundbreaking innovations in blockchain infrastructure. For the first time, Saga developers can interoperate freely among chainlets, Saga main chain, and other blockchains leveraging Inter Blockchain Communication (IBC). This allows developers to not only move assets and communication cross-chain, but also enable developers to elastically scale their application across multiple chainlets. Developers can experience limitless performance and scalability that is only possible with Saga. Pegasus also adds unparalleled flexibility for developers by enabling customized fee models for chainlets including support for fixed fee or fee-less chainlets.

“We are beyond excited to share Pegasus with the world, as it adds unparalleled flexibility, security and customized fee models for chainlets including support for fixed fee or fee-less chainlets,” said Jin Kwon, co-founder and CSO of Saga. “With Saga, developers can have it all and focus on creating experiences, not how everything is going to work on the back end.”

This week aboard the beautiful Blue Rhapsody yacht, Saga concluded its inaugural Multiverse Summit addressing pressing topics in Web3 game development featuring  speakers from Unity, Samsung, ESL FACEIT Group, The Sandbox, ConsenSys, Immutable, Avalanche, Polygon and more. The Multiverse Summit was emceed by Web3 gaming influencer Brycent, and GamesBeat Lead Writer Dean Takahashi capped off the summit with a fireside chat with Liao to explore the future of the multiverse. Attendees traveled through multiverses as they journeyed fully immersive, otherworldly environments and experiences aboard from Saga’s best games, characters and storylines. A special fireworks display capped off the summit as the Blue Rhapsody sailed on the Rhine River.

Additional highlights included Saga launching a product set highlighting features that game developers won’t find elsewhere, and a generative AI initiative with several lighthouse Innovators. The growing community of lighthouse Innovators creating games on Saga were also on board to showcase their games. These include Shrapnel, The 1st moddable extraction shooter game; Cosmic Exodus, an immersive strategy GameFi experience; and AILAND’s shooter game featuring interactive and realistic AI-powered character interactions. In less than 12 months, 224 new projects have entered the Saga ecosystem through its Innovator Program, 80% of which are gaming-oriented.

“We are rallying both traditional and web3 gaming around our Saga Multiverse, an ecosystem where developers, creators and storytellers freely collaborate and extend each other’s universes,” Liao said further. “Saga has grasped and is spearheading the main contribution of web3 to the cultural zeitgeist, which is the celebration of freedom and exploration of creative expression, together.”

The Multiverse Summit was live-streamed and highlights are on the official YouTube channel.

About the Saga Protocol
Saga (saga.xyz) is a Layer-1 protocol that allows developers to automatically spin up parallelized and interoperable dedicated chains that elastically scale with their Web3 application needs. Using shared security, cutting-edge validator orchestration and an automated deployment pipeline standardized across any kind of blockchain VM, Saga makes launching a dedicated chain, or Chainlet, as easy as deploying a smart contract. It is the only E2E developer platform in Web3 that meets the three core developer needs: easy to deploy, affordable and fast/scalable.
