TOKYO - December 20 - ‘The Treasure Ship of Zheng He’, a seafaring exploration strategy board game published by Harvest Valley, will be launching soon in January 2025. Based on the adventures of the great Chinese admiral and explorer Zheng He, travel the seas and explore the ancient lands on a voyage of discovery. Gather rare goods for officials, contribute and make your mark in history in Zheng He’s great voyage! This is the latest and greatest work designed by Hisashi Hayashi, an internationally renowned game designer from Japan, who designed the popular title YOKOHAMA (with a new edition released in 2024).

In ‘The Treasure Ship of Zheng He’ players are commanders in Zheng He’s fleet navigating to bring about seven successful and meaningful voyages. In order to achieve this, obtaining the cooperation of the Ming Dynasty high officials is essential. Travel around the various countries and collect rare and precious items for the officials.
Zheng He was a famous admiral and explorer in the 14th and 15th centuries of the Ming Dynasty. Born 100 years before Columbus, he made seven successful voyages of navigation from China, to Arabia and Africa. These voyages were focused on building friendships, due to this he was often well received in the countries he visited. This is still visible now, about 600 years later, by the monuments in countries around the world which honor him.
In the game:
Cooperate with the High Officials to ensure a successful voyage.
Build diplomacy with the great kingdoms of Ayutthaya Kingdom and the Malacca Kingdom.
Enjoy engaging in trade with merchants.
Fight pirates to bring peace to the seas and gain military glory.
Bring back rare animal species.
And most importantly, build a multitude of monuments around the lands to honor the greatness of Zheng He.
The player who makes the most of their actions and contributes the most to the great voyage of Zheng He will become victorious.
Early look at the components - The fleet sets sail
Hisashi Hayashi is known for creating games that are both challenging and fun to play which is also reflected in The Treasure Ship of Zheng He. This game will also include a substantial number of components (34 ship tokens, 125 envoy tokens, 100 stone monuments, 40 tribute pieces, and over 500 other tokens).

Hisashi Hayashi is an internationally renowned board game designer from Japan. He designed “YOKOHAMA” a fan favorite, and “BOMB BUSTERS” which won first place in this year's SPIEL Scoutaktion 2024. He has designed many works including “String Railway”, “Trains”, “MetroX” and “Bomb Busters” receiving high praise. He has been consistently designing outstanding games for many years, and his latest original game is “The Treasure Ship of Zheng He”.

Yoshikazu Yasuhiko is a legendary animator, character designer and manga artist. He is the character designer of 'Gundam', the animation director, and the person who worked on the comic 'Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin'. His wonderful illustrations are featured in this board game.
