Women In Games International :

Women in Games CEO Marie-Claire Isaaman has been named the winner of a Silver Stevie® Award in the Female Executive of the Year – Government or Non-Profit –10 or Less Employees  category in the 20th annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business.
 
At the same time, Women in Games has been presented with a Bronze Stevie Award in the Organization of the Year – Government or Non-Profit– 10 or Less Employees.
 
The Stevie Awards for Women in Business honour the achievements of women executives, entrepreneurs, employees, and the companies they run worldwide.
 
Nicknamed the Stevies for the Greek word for ‘crowned’, the awards were presented to winners during a gala event attended by nominees and their guests at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City earlier this month.
 
More than 1,600 entries were submitted this year for consideration in over 100 categories, including Executive of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Company of the Year, Startup of the Year, Women Helping Women, and Women Run Workplace of the Year.
 
Women in Games CEO Marie-Claire Isaaman was presented with the Silver Stevie Award for her work spearheading a gender diversity organisation that has a significant impact on women working in games internationally. Since taking on the role as CEO, she has taken the organisation from being run by volunteers in the UK, to a globally recognised body.
 
The judges said:
 
“Marie-Claire Isaaman is involved in games education, as well as working with research and cultural organisations in the UK and beyond. She is a true activist, working enthusiastically on campaigns and initiatives to help support women in games and esports.”
 
“Despite the restricted access to funding, Marie-Claire has been able to pull off numerous events and raise awareness in this most important area, raising the profile of women in video games and esports. Sufficient representation is still a way off, but with people like her leading the charge, I believe we will begin to see better representation. I wish her continued success in these endeavours.”
 
Women in Games received a Bronze Stevie Award for the impressive growth of the organisation over the past two years, with the number of Individual Ambassadors increasing to 1,300+ in over 70 countries. The organisation’s events – most free to attend – were also highlighted, the opening of the Women in Games Asia Chapter, and the publication of the Women in Games Guide: Building A Fair Playing Field.
 
The judges said:
 
“While it is disappointing that women are under-represented in the games industry, there is also a pervasive issue that women and girls are facing toxicity and abuse in online gaming spaces. Women in Games has been extremely proactive and has consistently called this out, and will continue to do so, until the video games sector is a safer space for women and girls. In addition, Women in Games continues to extend its reach globally and are great advocates for all women, girls and people of diverse gender identities.”
 
“Women in Games's commitment to diverse gender identities is admirable. Their collaborations with industry leaders and individual ambassadors across multiple countries is extremely important in helping to reduce toxicity toward women in the video games and esports sectors. Achieving this with a small team is highly impressive.”
 
“In my opinion Women in games is a great cause that gives women the power to represent themselves in a sector that has an under-representation of women. I would love to see this organisation get more fundings, grants and eventually expand to women in sports as well.”
 
“What sets Women in Games apart is their relentless commitment to advocating for women, girls, and individuals of diverse gender identities, while fostering a sense of community through events and networking opportunities. Moreover, their work addressing harassment and toxicity within the industry is essential, given the alarming reports in recent years. Their efforts in this regard are a vital contribution to creating a safer environment for all.”
 
Gold, Silver, and Bronze Stevie Award winners were determined by the average scores of more than 200 business professionals around the world, working on six juries. 
 
Women in Games CEO Marie-Claire Isaaman said: “For Women in Games to have been recognised within these incredibly prestigious awards is a great honour – but also testament to the passion and dedication of our small team, and our wider community of Ambassadors, Corporate Ambassadors and Education Ambassadors.
