Sandford Tech :
December 5, 2024 – Sandford Tech is proud to launch the full version of Slot Car VR, a mixed-reality track-building and racing game that replicates the nostalgia and joy of classic slot car racing. An iconic pastime dating back to the 1950s and still played around the world today, slot car racing is the competitive hobby of racing with miniature-powered vehicles. With unlimited customizations, full hand tracking and exceptional UI, Slot Car VR elevates this experience for a new audience, in a way that has never been seen before with mixed reality.
Slot Car VR features an intuitive grab-and-drag track-building system that allows users to build freely - straights, corners, ramps, twists and turns are only a gesture away. While the building is a truly magical experience, the racing is where things start heating up. Global leaderboards, community-generated tracks, medals and trophies make Slot Car VR a rich, content-packed title.
Slot Car VR can be enjoyed with others in multiplayer, both virtually and co-located. Simply join or host a multiplayer session to collaboratively build and race in real-time with other Quest headsets in your play space. For those further afield, avatars help you stay connected while playing with friends across the globe.
What’s New in the Full Release
MR Sandbox: Your experience with Slot Car VR is as unique as you make it. Be sure to save your work of art and share it with the community.
Multiplayer: Three multiplayer modes include co-located, online and passive for a wide variety of options.
Custom Track Editor: An intuitive grab-and-drag system allows you to build new pieces of track with a wide range of props, special track pieces, terrain and textured shapes.
Full Hand-Tracking Support: Build and race using only your hands. Controllers are recommended for more fine-tuned racing, but if you're whizzing around just for fun, hands work great!
Compete Online: Upload your masterpieces to the UGC dashboard. Submit your best time to make sure you stay on top of the global leaderboard. Win medals and trophies as you hone your racing skills.
Car Customization: Choose your racing colors from a full color wheel including hex codes to fine-tune that exact shade of red.
Slot Car VR is available now on the Meta Horizon Store for a limited time launch price of $9.99. In January 2025, the price will increase to the full release price of $14.99.
