SMITE 2 reveals the abilities for Hecate, a brand-new goddess to the sequel

Alpharetta, USA - June 10, 2024 - During IGN Live Titan Forge Games revealed the abilities of Hecate, the first goddess coming exclusively to SMITE 2. In a new video, the team explained how her initial abilities have been reworked and enhanced based on community feedback.

Hecate's initial design received a largely positive response from the community. However, player feedback during pre-alpha playtesting showed greater potential for the goddess. The newly reworked Hecate leans more into her role in mythology associated with crossroads within and beyond the world of the living.

Her new design includes her being a triplicate goddess who can appear in multiples, emphasising her mysticism and sorcery. The developers bring her playstyle to life  through transitions, doorways, and portals. Her reworked ultimate ability is a unique mechanic that allows her to move enemies to different parts of the map. It will also provide strategic depth to team fights as it creates a portal for her allies to travel across the battleground.

"We’re constantly listening to the community, and our goal is to interpret this feedback into amazing end results. The changes we’ve made with this feedback to her kit, especially her ultimate, are going to set the standard for what to expect from brand new gods in SMITE," - explained AJ "HiRezAjax" Walker, SMITE 2’s Design Director. “We can't wait for players to experience Hecate's new powers in an upcoming Alpha Event”.

The developers also shared the insights on creating two other SMITE 2 Gods, which were added to the game during the second Alpha Weekend event. Players are invited to check out the videos dedicated to the major changes of Sol and the reworked abilities of Hades.

Hecate will be released during the third Alpha Weekend event, which is coming soon. Alpha Weekend events will occur every month until SMITE 2's servers go 24/7. Those who don't receive an invite right away should not worry as Titan Forge will be sending them out regularly throughout the testing phases.
