El Paso, Texas - December 7th, 2021 - Strange Scaffold, the studio behind An Airport for Aliens Currently Run By Dogs, and the throwback third-person shooter El Paso, Elsewhere, today launches the sci-fi body-horror market tycoon game Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Game Pass for PC, and Steam.
Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator is an action-based economics game, challenging players to fulfill orders for clients, scour the market for the best deals, and keep the organs in their cargo bay from killing each other while racing against the inevitable closure of the almighty market. Between trading days players can monitor market trends, sell organ stocks, investigate opposing Organ Traders, and upgrade their cargo hold in preparation for another day in the intergalactic organ-trading rat-race.
Lead programmer Sam Chiet, known best for experimental engineering feats such as the “Desktop Goose”, has jury-rigged Kinect support into the PC version of Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator, allowing you to use your meat flesh to control a game about trading other meat flesh. As a bonus feature, included in the game’s tracked statistics about the player character is a counter of how many breaths you’ve taken since starting the game as a constant, ticking reminder of your mortality. This is Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator. Capitalism is a memento mori. You’re welcome.
With regards to development of the game itself, director Xalavier Nelson Jr. has this to say: ”The only comparison I have to working on a game about absurdist economics during the public saga surrounding GameStop stock, rise of NFTs, and seemingly unyielding plunge into the metaverse is experiencing complete ego death. Walking into a sensory deprivation chamber that is then hurled bodily directly over a cliff - a state of feeling everything and nothing all at once, all the time, forever.
