TIGA :

TIGA, the trade association representing the UK video games industry, has confirmed the initial speaker line-up for its new Games Education Conference, which will take place on Wednesday May 15th 2024 at Bournemouth University.

TIGA’s Games Education Conference will comprise a full day of talks and panel discussions, providing a much-needed forum for educators and studios to exchange knowledge and ideas to address key challenges, including skills requirements, graduate employability, excellence in research and teaching, plus advancements in tools and technologies. 

Confirmed speakers from studios include Alex Perkins (Avalanche Studios Group), Arden Aspinall (Rebellion North), Chris Kingsley (Rebellion), David Parish (Playground Games), Matt Morris (Code Wizards), and Tamsin O’Luanaigh (nDreams).

Speakers from education include Anna Limpens (University of Portsmouth), Beth Mackay (University of the West of England), Carlo Harvey (University of Birmingham), David Tree (University of Hertfordshire), Fred Charles (Bournemouth University), Mark Wickham (NUA), Peter Howe (University of Portsmouth), and Thom Kaczmarek (University of the Arts London).

More speakers will be joining the line up in the coming weeks.

TIGA’s Conference will discuss a range of subjects, including:

  1. Charting the Course: An overview of the UK games industry’s opportunities and challenges in 2024 – and what they mean for education.

  2. Industry skills – what we need now and, in the future, and enhancing graduate employability.

  3. Developing successful partnerships between industry and education, and how studios can help build course content.

  4. Developments in tools and technologies including AI and games engines in development.

  5. Excellence in games research, innovation and teaching.

  6. Promoting diversity and widening access to games education.

  7. Internships, placements and industrial secondments.
