Neronian Studios announces its survival title Middle Ages: Peasants & Knights. The game will transport one or more players into a medieval world inspired by 14th century Europe, where they will have to apply their skills and wits to survive. The game will be released in early access at the end of 2025.

"Middle Ages is not just another survival game, it's a hardcore simulation of the medieval period – from gathering resources to crafting to building villages and farming. All this with unique mechanics related to the inventory system or realistic crafting and powered by Unreal Engine 5," says Jan Kolek, co-founder of the studio and lead developer.

The medieval world of Middle Ages is a harsh one, and surviving in it requires effort, strategy and even a bit of luck. One of the key mechanics is the true inventory system – the player can only take as many items as they would have picked up and carried in real life. Finding efficient ways to acquire, transport and store resources will be what determines success or failure. The immersive experience will be complemented by detailed first-person crafting inspired by actual historical practices.

"The central theme of the game is the freedom to choose one's own destiny, but also the immediate or delayed response of the environment to these decisions. Players can choose whether to be content with a modest shelter and a small field under the rule of a lord, or whether to take fate into their own hands and try to acquire enough resources through fighting or trading to build a village and castle to gain control of their own territory. There are many paths to a happy life, from raising livestock and growing crops to chasing out bandits from the woods with a sword forged with their own hands," adds Jan Hejkal, co-founder of the studio and lead designer.

Middle Ages: Peasants & Knights is due out in late 2025 on PC. More information can be found on the game's official website.
