Take part in the WW1 Christmas Truce in Verdun until January 5!

ALKMAAR, THE NETHERLANDS, December 22, 2021 – A special Christmas Truce event begins on PC in authentic WW1 FPS games Verdun today! Players on Steam and the Epic Games Store can throw snowballs, play football, and explore a Christmas truce map full of details and scenes inspired by real-life accounts of the event.

The event will run until January 5th. Furthermore, both Verdun and Tannenberg are 70% off on Steam, making this a great time to grab Verdun to join the truce! The upcoming next entry in the WW1 Game Series which takes the series to the mountains of Italy, Isonzo, is still on course for a release next year and can be wishlisted now on Steam.

About the Christmas Truce
The event is based on the well-known historic Christmas Truce from WW1 in 1914. Just 5 months after the start of the conflict, the first Christmas of WW1 came around. Leadership on both sides were reconsidering their strategies following a stalemate and the indecisive result of the First Battle of Ypres. As a result of the lull in hostilities, soldiers in parts of the front started to cross the trenches in the week leading up to Christmas to exchange seasonal greetings, gifts, and talk. In a couple of areas, soldiers from both sides ventured into No Man’s Land on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to exchange gifts of food and souvenirs. There were joint burials and prisoner swaps, but they also had some fun: people played football and sang carols from their countries.

M2H and BlackMill Games have adapted this incredible moment of history into Verdun! To participate, players join a special map where they and like-minded players can have a jolly good time and a break from the fighting: throw snowballs, play football (a.k.a. soccer), relax at the bonfire, and send Christmas Cards from in-game to friends and family by email or social media! If they stay until the end of the round they can earn a medal for participating in the Truce!

About Verdun
WW1 FPS Verdun takes place on the Western Front between 1914 and 1918, in one of the bloodiest conflicts in world history. We were inspired by the infamous Battle of Verdun in France, 1916. The game offers four distinct game modes: Frontlines, Attrition, Rifle Deathmatch, and Squad Defense. 

Verdun is as immersive and gritty as it can get with elements such as authentic weapons, realistic bullet physics, and horrendous gore that portrays the true horror of First World War battlefields (this feature can be disabled). In the event of a gas attack, players need to put on their gas masks, which impairs their view and awareness. And if getting shot or gassed isn’t enough, sudden artillery barrages called in by NCOs can pin you down if you’re caught in the open – this unforgiving war isn’t for the faint-hearted!

Verdun and Tannenberg are part of the WW1 Game Series, and a third game is coming: Isonzo! Every game in the series delivers intense, authentic First World War multiplayer action. There’s attention to detail in everything from weapon models and uniforms to trench designs and gameplay that reflects the different theaters of the Great War.
