HALO INFINITE INVITATIONAL ANNOUNCEMENT VIDEO FROM MYNNO
TORONTO, ON – December 7, 2021 – MYNNO, in partnership with Xbox Canada and Paidia Gaming, are hosting a celebration of Canada’s diverse gaming community. The Halo Infinite Invitational is set to take place, with an accompanying livestream broadcast, live from the Red Bull Gaming Studio in Toronto on Sunday, December 12, at 12PM.
“With the year wrapping up we wanted to do something fun and inclusive for the city as well as our communities. There was no better way to do this than with a Celebration event for one of the most beloved franchises around, Halo” - Says MYNNO founder, Kurston Timothy.
MYNNO, formerly known as Team Black Game Pros, is an organization aimed at providing platforms for BIPOC creators to grow within the creator industry. The rebrand comes as a way to better reflect their values with ‘MYNNO’ being short for ‘Minority’ and the team itself being minority operated. The second, slighter deeper meaning behind the name is a metaphor for the plight of many minority creators, being a ‘small fish in a big pond’.
The Halo Infinite Invitational Tournament will see BIPOC creators and their friends from within the games industry competing for glory, various prizes, as well as a $1,000 tournament pot bonus provided by Paidia Gaming. The tournament will be broadcast live on Twitch on www.twitch.tv/kvondoom.
While the tournament will be the main draw for stream viewers watching from home, the event will also have a social element to it sinces industry events have been very scarce throughout the pandemic.
“We wanted to use this as a way for creators to network with like-minded individuals, but more importantly make new friends by the time the day is done,” says Timothy about the importance of being able to network within the space.
“We live in a time where it’s acceptable to say ‘I love and play video games’ but, for some of us minorities, we often struggle to be seen in our communities or, even worse, have to validate why we're passionate about them. Creating events like this puts a spotlight on talented and incredible creators, giving them a platform to speak about and share their work with others. The goal is to empower and uplift those in this space, and really champion them for the world to see.”
