PORTLAND, JUNE 7, 2024 - It is with perverse glee that Coal Supper and publisher Panic have revealed today as part of IGN Live’s broadcast that the comedy slapformer Thank Goodness You’re Here! will release on August 1 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 & 5, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. The new trailer for the game also showcases voice work from a host of talented actors and comedians, including the work of the legendary British actor, rotten soldier, and sweet cheese Matt Berry (What We Do in the Shadows, Toast of London, Fallout) who lends his distinctive voice to the character of Herbert The Gardner.

Also today, Coal Supper is debuting a short demo for Thank Goodness You’re Here! on Steam as part of the June Steam Next Fest, starting officially on June 10. As an official Games Selection of the 2024 Tribeca Festival, an extended demo of the game will be exclusively playable at the Tribeca Games Gallery at Pier 57 for the public from June 12-16.

Reviewer’s note: Thank Goodness You’re Here!
takes around 2-3 hours to complete.

About Thank Goodness You’re Here! After arriving early for a big meeting with the mayor of a bizarre Northern English town, a traveling salesman takes the time to explore and meet the locals, who are all very eager to give him a series of increasingly odd jobs… Thank Goodness You’re Here! is a comedy slapformer, which unfolds over time as the players' exploration and antics leave their mark on the strange town of Barnsworth. With each completed odd job, new areas of the town open up, stranger and stranger tasks become available, and the clock ticks towards our salesman’s big meeting. The town’s colorful inhabitants are brought to life with vibrant hand-drawn animation, fully voiced dialogue, and wall-to-wall double entendres.

Features:

  • Bold, beautiful visual design that seamlessly blends side-scrolling action vignettes with top-down exploration in a chock-a-block world

  • Progressively more involved and puzzling odd-jobs to complete: cut the grass, bake a pie, traverse the astral plane!

  • Hand-crafted animation and original story based on traditional Yorkshire folklore

  • Authentic regional dialects guaranteed to mek thi spit art thi tea laughin’

  • Oddly moving original soundtrack

About Coal Supper
Childhood friends and adulthood collaborators, Will Todd and James Carbutt released The Good Time Garden for free on Steam in 2019, establishing a unique house style that pulls influence from dusty VHS tapes of 90s kids TV, Reeves and Mortimer, and soggy copies of the Beano - they have since been hard at work on Thank Goodness You’re Here! A delightfully surreal homage to their hometown in Northern England.

About Panic Inc.
Founded in 1999, Panic is an ancient startup in Portland, Oregon that loves to make nice things and bring people everyday joy. Originally — and still — a Mac app developer, Panic has also become a highly-focused video game publisher that helped release Firewatch and Untitled Goose Game into the world. They now set their sights on even more games such as Arcodespelote, Time Flies, Big Walk and soon-to-be more! And in the ultimate spirit of creating products that bring joy, Panic has also created its very own handheld video game system: Playdate.
