The Final Farewell

The Final Farewell is a cosy narrative adventure about saying goodbye and letting go of those we love, whilst cherishing the memories they leave behind. As a lost ghost, the player will wander the beautiful, yet ominous, Whispering Woods, befriending wayward mortals and piecing together their misty memories. Successfully lay to rest the echoes of the past, and you may even discover the truth of your own demise!

With a team of early career starts, Studio Witchstar joins the ever growing NI gaming community, and hopes to create a welcoming space for other junior creatives to demonstrate their unlocked potential. This has all been made possible thanks to the support of Northern Ireland Screen through their innovative MiniGame program.

Studio Head, Lorna McFall says:

“Studio Witchstar was created as a space to help nurture new talent, as well as elevate the skills of those already in the games industry,, MiniGame felt like the perfect opportunity to showcase what our small but passionate team can create, and with the support already received through NI Screen, we have already had the opportunity to hire some amazing new talent based in Northern Ireland. We are extremely excited to share ‘The Final Farewell’ with you all, and we hope that, post-release, we can continue to add more content to the game with feedback from our community. We want to support the players who support us.” 

Creative Director, Catherine McFall spoke about the importance of not straying from hard-hitting emotional narratives:

"The idea for the game came from the concept of ghosts, and what - or who - haunts us. Grief is a complex topic that everyone can relate to, and it doesn’t always relate to death - sometimes we grieve when a relationship ends, or for a path unchosen in life. We wanted to provide a cathartic experience for the player to process their own feelings on the topic. What if you could take some control of what you’ve lost or forgotten?”
