TIGA pays tribute to Ian Hetherington

UK trade body pays tribute to the co-founder of Psygnosis after he sadly passed this month.

TIGA, the trade association representing the UK video games industry, paid tribute today to Ian Hetherington, who died after a short illness (14th December 2021).
 
Ian Hetherington founded Psygnosis with Jonathan Ellis. The Liverpool based Psygnosis studio developed a string of iconic games including Shadow of the Beast, Wipeout and Lemmings.
 
Ian was also Chairman of Evolution Studios and Realtime Worlds, a member of the BGI’s Advisory Board and a TIGA board member (2010-2018).
 
Dr Richard Wilson OBE, TIGA CEO, said:
 
“Everyone at TIGA is sad and deeply sorry that Ian Hetherington has passed away. Ian was one of the founding fathers of the UK video games industry, established the seminal Psygnosis studio and served on a number of games industry boards, including the TIGA board.
 
“TIGA would like to pay tribute to Ian’s contribution to the video games industry and express our deepest condolences to his family.”
