German AI toolmaker Xaitment says two studios, Munich-based Coreplay and French developer Kylotonn have signed new licensing agreements for its pathfinding middleware, XaitMap and XaitMove.

German AI toolmaker Xaitment says European studios Coreplay and Kylotonn have signed two new licensing agreement for its pathfinding middleware. Munich-based Coreplay has licensed XaitMap and XaitMove on an upcoming title, while French studio Kylotonn's said to be using them in pre-development. XaitMap is an AI middleware tool that generates navigation meshes for AI pathfollowing. Xaitment says the middleware is specifically suited for large spaces, and that the nav meshes can be updated alongside changes in static geometry. The tool has a graphical user interface and also allows for integration with existing game development platforms. The company's XaitMove tool aims to provide a movement solution for individuals and large groups of characters based on nav meshes, including formation movement and crowd simulations. Xaitment says its tool allows developers to keep individuals and groups from colliding with each other, with stationary objects or with flying or thrown objects. Both tools are designed for next-gen platforms, including Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and Windows PC, the company adds. "It is a pleasure partnering with Coreplay and Kylotonn," says Andreas Gerber, Group CEO of Xaitment. "We are excited to see the resulting games coming from these first-class game development studios."
