Game development as a sport
Game development can be pretty intimidating and difficult. One of the ways to deal with the massive workload and pressures is to treat game development as a sport.
This is also great for motivation too. Every day make it a habit to code just a little bit. I eventually made this into a serious coding addiction. It's good and healthy for your mind. For instance when I made Flipbrix I just did it out of the sheer mental workout. Of course in the course of this you get into the waxes and wanes of sheer volume of output. Ideally you want to focus your peaks during crunch or deadline times. Right now I'm kind of resting from a sort of coding binge a couple of weeks ago. I kind of had to adopt this sort of work attitude a couple of weeks before that to just preserve my presence on the net. The only thing to do was to get into the habit of defending myself from web attacks and writing software to defend and interdict the lot of them. Of course there's the mental inertia of peer pressure. for or against this.
