Facial animation tech company ImageMetrics is partnering with UK motion capture and character animation services company Centroid, and the two will collaborate on an integrated animation solution offering to the video game, film and television industries. Centroid is the inaugural member of a new Partner Program for Image Metrics, though in recent months it's integrated tech from Xsens, teamed with Babel Media on localization, and integrated the tech of both FacePro and CharacterFX, both of which it recently acquired. In this partnership, Centroid will integrate Image Metrics' facial animation tech into its motion capture services, while Image Metrics will provide operational support for the process, including asset management, data analysis and animation production. "Image Metrics selected Centroid as the first participant in our Preferred Partner Program because of their impressive body of work in games, television and movies," says Image Metrics EVP Brian Waddle. "Whether customers shoot at Centroid's state-of-the-art Pinewood Studio in the UK or one of their mobile capture studios that can be deployed worldwide, Centroid's facilities combine impressive toolsets and expert staff." "Through our new partnership, Image Metrics will become the default facial animation solution at Centroid," adds Centroid operations director Phil Stilgoe.
