The following research activity aims to map the various Artstyles that have been used in mobile games.
Artstyle Mapping of Mobile Games
Mapping the Artstyles is a very subjective exercise and hence the results of the exercise are subject to my limited knowledge about artstyles. I have tried to provide as many references as possible. Having said that, the report aims to provide a broad sense of the popular art styles that are used in mobile games.
The following are the four dimentions that were looked at for the analysis. Each of these were classified further and their percentage distrubution among the Top 200 Grossing Games on the iPhone (as of 3rd April 2014) was calculated. (For example; 12% of the top 200 games on the iPhone have a majority of characters having goofy expressions)
