Cinematic ArtistDisruptor Beam

Location: Framingham, MA

Disruptor Beam is building a new generation of games for every screen, based on popular universes like Game of Thrones and Star Trek. This is an opportunity to join a rapidly growing company, alongside a veteran team, working with some of the most iconic brands in entertainment.

We are seeking an experienced Cinematic Artist to create compelling, high-impact trailers and other animated videos that will help grow the audience for our successful mobile and web games.

As a member of the Marketing team, the Cinematic Artist will be responsible for all aspects of cinematic production, including concept development, storyboarding, casting and VO performance, animation, lighting, cinematography, sound design, editing, and post-production, ensuring that their work reaches a consistently high level of quality.

The Cinematic Artist will also assist in the creation of studio-based productions, including video blogs, live streams, and event recordings; and collaborate with Product Development from time to time on in-game assets such as cinematic intros and cut-scenes, as well as pre-visualizations to aid in prototyping.

Applicants must submit a reel of representative work in cinematics to be considered.

What You'll Do:

  • Drive the development of visual storytelling at Disruptor Beam

  • Setup and capture full-motion animation in Unity

  • Conceptualize, shoot, edit, and post-produce game trailers and in-game cinematic

  • Work across disciplines to strike a balance between gameplay, promotion, and visual storytelling

  • Create compelling cutscenes and interactive dialogs with excellent pacing, acting, and timing using animation libraries.

  • Communicate with designers and leads to strike a balance between gameplay and visual storytelling.

  • Balance quality with efficiency when working under tight deadlines

  • Follow and maintain pipelines and technical requirements.

  • Help produce 3D elements and / or any other related tasks

What We Seek:

  • Passion for making movies

  • B.A. in film or cinema studies, or work-equivalent experience

  • At least 3 years of experience as a cinematic artist or cinematic lead

  • Demonstrated ability to setup, animate and capture compelling, original 3D animations

  • Technical understanding of run-time engine assets; must be able to maximize existing assets for cinematic use

  • Outstanding filmmaking skills, including the effective use of color, form, light and composition

  • Ability to communicate visually, and to identify and define visual design issues and solutions

  • Willingness to search for technical solutions to realize your creative vision

  • Strong affinity for Star Trek, Game of Thrones and other fantasy/SF/horror IP

  • A passion for games, particularly mobile games and strategy games

  • Good verbal, written, and visual communication skills

  • Dedication, adaptability and accountability in your work

  • Have created cinematics for at least one shipped game

  • Unity game engine

  • 2D animation

  • 3D modeling software (Maya, 3DMax, etc.)
