Computer animation software developer Softimage, a subsidiary of Avid Technology, has announced its support for the CryENGINE 2 game engine with its SOFTIMAGE|XSI software. SOFTIMAGE|XSI is a high-end graphics application used by artists to create 3D environments and scenes in films, video games, advertisements. Crytek and Softimage's developers worked together to customize a SOFTIMAGE|XSI export process specifically for the CryENGINE 2 game engine, which is used in Crytek's Crysis and a number of newly licensed titles. "Content created in SOFTIMAGE|XSI software, and used within the CryENGINE 2 Sandbox editor, offers a streamlined workflow that enhances and simplifies the creative process in game development." said Michael Endres, art production manager, Crytek GmbH.
