The Ivor Novello Awards honor British songwriters for their contributions to the arts. It is presented by the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors, the professional association for songwriters in the UK. This year's ceremony is the 56th overall, and the second to feature a Video Game category. The awards are named after the popular Welsh entertainer who died in 1951, and are judged and presented by fellow musicians, making the awards particularly noteworthy for winners. The winner of last year's inaugural award was Joris de Man, for his work on Killzone 2 (Guerilla Games/Sony Computer Entertainment).
