Audiokinetic today released a new version of its Wwise video game audio pipeline that includes new audio effects and features. WWise 2010.2 introduces side-chaining for automatic volume adjustment and convolution reverb to simulate the way sound reverberates in an enclosed space, along with Tremolo, Flanger, Guitar Distorsion and Meter effects and more advanced DSP options. The convolution reverb feature will be available as an add-on sold separately or as part of a number of WWise PowerPacks. "This is an important step forward for game developers and the audio professional community" said Simon Ashby, AudioKinetic's VP for Product Strategy. "Our goal is to enable audio creators to give players the best experience possible. With a growing variety of optimized Add-ons available for Wwise, it's simple for the audio department to articulate and realize the full potential of their artistic vision."
