Several members of Seattle, WA-based Fat Princess creator Titan Studios have formed a new company, Carbon Games, following Titan's closure a month ago, according to online reports. According to Carbon's official website, the studio currently consists of six members of Titan's core team, namely Dawna Baltins, Weng Chen, Matt Endsley, James Green, Branimir Karadzic, and Ken Klopp. Titan Studios was formed as a subsidiary of Epic Games China, which co-authored Fat Princess. According to comments made to Joystiq by founder James Green, Titan closed shop around one month ago, after "winding down" gracefully. "We were just in a support/advisory role [to Epic Games China], which is why we never followed up Fat Princess with anything," Green told the site. According to the new studio's online statement, the company is completely independent, "free to make the games we want on the platforms we want, and interact with the public the way we want." "This is the primary reason we wanted to 'go indie' at this time," it continued, suggesting that the move was planned well in advance of Titan's closure. According to Green, Carbon's six-person team is "about half" of the headcount that was left at Titan, saying the is unable to hire back Titan's QA team at this time.
