Moshi Monsters creator Mind Candy is expanding from its London headquarters to a new Los Angeles office which will focus on producing video content for the game's young playerbase. The platform is called Moshi TV and, according to the company, will host videos that include "animated Moshi shorts, safely moderated user-generated content and programming from third party producers." The revenue model for the platform has not yet been determined, but the company says it will likely mix both free and premium content. Heading the project will be Brad Schultz, the company announced Thursday. Schultz was previously at kid content platform Kabillion for the last four years, and has launched several kids' shows on major networks, including Hero:108, Rob Dyrdek's Wild Grinders and Chloe's Closet. He is the son of Bill Schultz, a noted animation producer whose works include The Simpsons, King of the Hill, The Critic and Courage the Cowardly Dog. "We're delighted to have Brad heading up this immensely exciting area of the business," said Mind Candy CEO Michael Acton Smith. "We share the same vision, and with his experience and skill set, he's definitely the right man to get Moshi TV off the ground." Moshi TV will launch later this year, the company said. Mind Candy's Moshi Monsters boasts over 50 million registered users since its 2008 launch. A June valuation put the company at roughly $200 million. The company has doubled its staff in east London this year to about 100 heads. This is not the company's first foray into expanding its IP into other mediums, as earlier this month the company began selling music based on the game on Apple's iTunes store.
