Electronic Arts revealed today that the multiplayer beta for its upcoming, highly anticipated shooter Battlefield 3 will be open to all gamers from September 29, 2011. The beta will be available on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, and will feature the Operation Metro map, set in Paris, with a single game mode for players to trial. Those players who preorder the PC version of the game via the Origin digital distribution service, or had previously preordered the limited edition version of Medal of Honor, will receive early access to the beta on September 27. As part of the beta, players will also be able to log into Battlelog, the free social media network especially created for the Battlefield series. Battlefield 3 is due to launch on October 25. EA revealed earlier this month that preorders of the game currently stand at over 1.25 million units. Earlier this week, the game was celebrated as part of the Future Game Awards at the Tokyo Game Show, alongside the likes of Sega's Binary Domain and Square Enix's Final Fantasy XIII-2.
