Sony Online Entertainment announced today that free-to-play virtual world Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures has surpassed a total of eight million registered players. The game, based on animated Cartoon Network series 'Star Wars: The Clone Wars,' was announced last summer as a means of integrating the TV series with an interactive experience. It was then released just over a year ago as a family-friendly online world. Back at launch, the game saw over one million registered users within a week, with SOE president John Smedley noting that the company was "thrilled" with its success. Smedley said of this latest figure, "LucasArts continues to be an excellent partner, giving our team unprecedented access so that we can continue to create a virtual world that expands beyond the storylines of the TV show in fun and creative ways." He reiterated that the company was happy with the game's progress, and noted that he "looks forward to seeing our community and games continue to grow as season four [of the Clone Wars TV show] kicks off."
