Demon's Souls U.S. publisher Atlus has announced that the life of the online servers for the PlayStation 3 game has been extended, and the servers will now be available into 2012. The online features in Demon's Souls allow players to leave hints for one another, co-operatively revive other players, or invade other people's playthroughs and cause havoc. These features are in place to intensify the single-player campaign, explained Aram Jabbari, manager of sales at Atlus. The company did not say exactly how deep into 2012 the servers would remain active. "While it comes at significant cost to us and although it has been over two years since the game revolutionized the notion of multiplayer and online functionality in an RPG, our commitment to the game and the fans that turned it into an incredible success remains as strong as ever," he noted. "While the reality is that one day the servers will ultimately close due to operation and maintenance costs, that day is not today, nor will it be this year." Atlus did not note whether or not Demon's Souls servers in regions outside of the U.S. will also remain active during 2012.
