Deus Ex, Sword and Sworcery win big at Canadian Videogame Awards

Eidos-Montreal's Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Capy's Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery EP were the big winners at the 2012 Canadian Videogame Awards, taking home five awards each.

Eidos-Montreal's Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Capy's Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery EP were the big winners at the 2012 Canadian Videogame Awards, taking home five awards each. Although EA's FIFA Soccer 12 won the Game of the Year award at the Vancouver show, which recognizes standout games developed in Canada and released in 2011, Toronto's Capybara Games and Eidos' Montreal studio were the main talking points of the evening. Deus Ex: Human Revolution's awards included Best Console Game, Best Audio and Best Game Design, while Capy's Sword & Sworcery won Best Downloadable Game and Best Indie Game, amongst others. Other winners included EA's NHL 12 taking home the Future Shop Gamers' Choice Award, and Best Social/Casual Game for Exploding Barrel Games' Margaritaville Online. The show's co-founder Victor Lucas reiterated that the strength of the games coming out of the Canadian video game industry show that the country's development scene is "second to none." The Game of the Year award was selected via an online public vote, while the rest of the winners were decided by a body of advisors and industry professionals.
