Newsbrief: Jetpack Joyride studio Halfbrick is trialing a new kind of DLC -- the sort that initially costs money, but warns the player that it will go free within a set number of days. The latest update to Jetpack Joyride adds a vehicle called 'The Wave Rider' which costs $4.99 to download. However, this is deemed an 'Early Bird Offer', and users are told that they can instead wait for four days, and then receive the item for free thereafter. Halfbrick CCO Luke Muscat said that his studio "wanted the new [vehicle] to have some kind of value associated with it," hence the experiment. He noted that the experimentation hasn't stopped there -- the latest update also doubles the number of costumes of jetpacks available in the game, and sets them on a timed cycle.
