THQ has signed a deal to publish a new first-person shooter IP from Left 4 Dead developer Turtle Rock, due in 2013, with film veterans David Elliot and Paul Lovett set to write content for the title. Few details were given regarding the new title, but THQ EVP for core games Danny Bilson said the game looked "set to make a similar impact in the multiplayer space" as the co-operative Left 4 Dead. While the new game won't be shown at E3, Turtle Rock COO Phil Robb said in a statement he's excited to show the title "in the months ahead." Meanwhile, a new press packet from Turtle Rock management company DDM (dug up by superannuation) reveals that film industry veterans David Elliot and Paul Lovett will be providing writing talent for Turtle Rock's game. The pair, best known for 2005 Mark Wahlberg production Four Brothers and 2009's G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, came to the Turtle Rock project through a relationship between DDM and film agency Verve. That DDM/Verve partnership was also responsible for a collaboration between Scratch The Ultimate DJ developer Bedlam Games and the writing team behind the movie Red, who are working together on a new cross-media IP. Lake Forest, CA-based Turtle Rock was acquired by Valve in 2008 and was briefly known as Valve South while working with the Left 4 Dead publisher, but now exists as an independent studio. The status of the Valve-linked Turtle Rock project announced last May is currently unclear.
