BioWare's Mass Effect 3 is now being targeted for release in the first quarter of the 2012 calendar year, according to a brief Facebook post by executive producer Casey Hudson. "The development team is laser focused on making sure Mass Effect 3 is the biggest, boldest and best game in the series, ensuring that it exceeds everyone’s expectations," the note reads. The game was officially unveiled with an expected holiday 2011 release window in a trailer presentation at December's Spike TV Video Game Awards. Mass Effect 2 also came out in the usually underpopulated first quarter, with a January 2010 release that shipped 2 million units in its first week of availability.
