Newsbrief: A team of modders has been given the all-clear by Konami to build a remake of the original Metal Gear, created in 1987 for the MSX2 computer and later for the Nintendo Entertainment System. The Outer Heaven team is building this remake as a mod for Valve's Alien Swarm. As spotted by Kotaku, the group recently received word from Konami that it can build its remake, as long as it makes the final product free to download. And the team says that Konami may be interested in taking the project beyond a free mod if there appears to be enough public interest in it. The team is currently hiring more people to help bring the mod to life.
