Today Valve confirmed that Activision's Modern Warfare 3 will include Steamworks integration on PC, adding a number of PC-specific features to this version of the highly-anticipated shooter. With this newly-announced Steamworks support, PC players will enjoy auto-updates and Steam achievements, among other features. In addition, Activision confirmed that the PC version of the game will support dedicated servers at launch. This functionality will be available for all PC copies of the game, including retail copies and downloadable copies purchased through other online vendors. EA has taken a different approach with its own flasgship shooter, Battlefield 3, saying the title will not appear on Steam due to Valve's "restrictive terms of service." In addition, the retail version of Battlefield 3 will require players to use EA's own Origin platform. Modern Warfare 3 is due to launch November 8 on PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 -- additional versions have also been announced for the Wii and Nintendo DS.
