Modern Warfare 3 Tops Japanese Charts In Opening Week

The subtitled edition of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 topped the Japanese weekly software sales charts last week, selling 210,839 units across the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. For the week ended November 20, data from tracking firm Media Create, and as reported by NeoGAF, shows that the PlayStation 3 version of Modern Warfare 3 took the number one spot, while the Xbox 360 version was lower down at seven. There were over half a dozen new titles in the charts, with Bandai Namco's One Piece: Gigant Battle 2 - New World taking the number two spot in its opening week. Level 5's Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch for PS3, also new, jumped in at number three with a total of 67,032 units sold. Other new releases included Saints Row: The Third, Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 and Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, each of which took up position in the top 20. The previous week's number one, Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Extend, dropped down to number eight. Nintendo's Super Mario 3D Land held strong, sitting comfortably at number four. The complete top 20 chart, as supplied by Media Create, is shown below.
