Persona 5 has sold over 2M copies worldwide

The striking RPG was met with critical acclaim when it launched on PS3 and PS4 last year, and has since been nominated for multiple awards.

Persona 5 has sold over 2 million copies worldwide since hitting shelves back in September 2016. 

The striking RPG was met with critical acclaim when it launched on PS3 and PS4 last year, and has since been nominated for multiple awards

Although sales figures for past entries are hard to come by, developer Atlus says the entire franchise has sold 8.9 million units globally since the first title launched over two decades ago.

"This has been an incredible year for our company, one that represents our ambitions for Japanese games in the west," said Atlus U.S.A. president and CEO, Naoto Hiraoka.

"We are in the middle of experiencing tremendous growth, both in the west and abroad, and the sales of Persona 5 represent a new level of expectation for fans of the genre. Once seen as niche, Persona 5 is one of the most important titles this year, proving interest in this category is expanding."
