Sackboy: A Big Adventure developer Sumo Digital has cut the ribbon on a new studio in Bangalore, India.

The new opening will focus on delivering specialist development services across a variety of AAA console projects. Sumo veteran Stewart Neal has been named studio director, having spent the past 18 months overseeing the expansion of Sumo Pune.

"We are excited to share the next step in our journey with the announcement of Sumo Bangalore and further expansion at Sumo Pune," commented Neal. "The continued growth of Sumo Digital's presence in India is a reflection of the skills and expertise of our team and our reputation as a highly successful co-development studio."

The news comes shortly after Sumo Digital parent Sumo Group, which is currently in the process of being acquired by Tencent for $1.27 billion, purchased UK studio Auroch Digital for $8.3 million.

Earlier this year, the UK company also opened a new studio in Canada called Timbre Games, and acquired Polish work-for-hire studio PixelAnt Games.
