Triad Wars, the online open world action spin-off to Sleeping Dogs, will be shut down permanently in just four weeks' time.

Developer United Front Games, which was working on the game in conjunction with Square Enix, broke the bad news to players in a forum post

No official reason was given for the game's shuttering, although UFG did say that Triad Wars simply "wasn't right" for many players, and as a result is being closed down on January 20, 2016.

To allow players to get the most out of the game over the next four weeks UFG will be making gold - Triad Wars' in-game currency - available for free.

The developer also confirmed it would be posting details on how to deal with gold refunds in the near future.
