The latest Total War game shoots up the Steam sales chart, with a little help from a license from Warhammer.
Total War: Warhammer has become the fastest-growing Total War game on Steam, according to a press release from Sega.
The fantasy-strategy game has jumped to over half a million sales since its launch on May 24th, with Creative Assembly's studio director Tim Heaton stating that the game has been topping over 100k concurrent players on a regular basis.
SteamSpy also reports over 100k concurrent players on May 25th, and nearly 100,000 in the following days.
The Total War series has typically pulled from historical settings, but Total War: Warhammer has been the first to license a popular fantasy brand to build its core strategy mechanics on. Heaton credits their work on improving stability and performance, as well as the opportunity to integrate Total War's mechanics into the Warhammer universe for the game's success.
