Atlanta-based Hi-Rez Studios announced today that the closed beta for its upcoming Tribes revitilization will launch next month. The Tribes: Ascend closed beta will be available by invitation only for PC players, and will begin on November 4. Those interested can sign up for the beta at the game's official website. Automatic invitation into the beta is given to those players who purchase the special VIP Starter Bundle version of the game. Todd Harris, COO at Hi-Rez, said, "Our vision is to deliver a high production, AAA multiplayer shooter that offers a refreshing alternative to today's slow paced military shooters, while also happening to be free to play." Hi-Rez first revealed that it had acquired the rights to the Tribes franchise last October, and later revealed Tribes: Ascend. Earlier this year, it put the console versions of the game on hold to focus on the PC release. These will be coming after the PC version.
